Sikkim & Darjeeling
The Mystic Mountains
विहंगावलोकन
Sikkim and Darjeeling, nestled in the eastern Himalayas, form one of India's most enchanting travel regions. Sikkim, India's first fully organic state, is a biodiversity hotspot with pristine landscapes, snow-capped peaks including the majestic Kanchenjunga, and a unique cultural heritage blending Buddhist and Hindu traditions. Darjeeling, the "Queen of the Hills," is famous for its tea gardens, colonial charm, and panoramic Himalayan views.
Gangtok, Sikkim's capital, is a clean and vibrant city perched at 5,400 feet offering stunning mountain views, the renowned Rumtek Monastery, and the unique experience of Nathula Pass on the India-China border. Darjeeling's heritage train ride on the UNESCO-listed Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a visit to the famous tea estates, and the breathtaking sunrise from Tiger Hill are experiences that stay with you forever.
The region offers unparalleled natural beauty with attractions like Tsomgo Lake, Yumthang Valley (the Valley of Flowers), and the hot springs at Pelling. The monasteries, particularly the Pemayangtse and Tashiding monasteries, offer spiritual solace. The local cuisine, influenced by Tibetan, Nepali, and Bengali traditions, features momos, thukpa, and the famous Darjeeling tea that is celebrated worldwide for its distinct flavor and aroma.
